In a trade with the Astros the Braves acquire Gold Glover Mauricio Dubón and re-sign closer Raisel Iglesias

The Braves first declared that they had signed closer Raisel Iglesias to a $16 million, one-year contract. They then revealed that they had traded for Gold Glove utility man Mauricio Dubón from the Houston Astros. In exchange for Dubón, the Braves sent infielder Nick Allen to Houston.

They will keep their closer from the previous three seasons thanks to the agreement with Iglesias. Yahoo Sports listed Iglesias a free agent as the 45th-best player on the market.

Iglesias's offerings

Iglesias who turns 36 next season had his worst season in Atlanta pitching 67 1/3 innings with a 3.21 ERA, 73 strikeouts and 16 walks. He made a total of 29 saves.

In his two complete seasons with Atlanta Iglesias recorded a 1.95 ERA and 34 saves in 2024 and a 2.75 ERA and 33 saves in 2023. However a large portion of Iglesias' relative difficulties in 2025 occurred in the beginning of the campaign.

Iglesias had a 6.75 ERA in early June of last season and gave up six home runs in his first 25 appearances. From there he pitched 43 1/3 innings and gave up just two more home runs finishing the season with a 1.25 ERA. Atlanta is undoubtedly hoping that Iglesias will appear in 2026.
