Mariano Troilo banned two matches after red card in Parma's shock Milan victory

Mariano Troilo receives his marching orders following the late header at San Siro.

Serie A match officials suspended Parma defender Mariano Troilo for two games Monday. The disciplinary judge reviewed video of his 88th-minute dismissal against AC Milan, confirming an overzealous celebration that struck assistant referee Luca Mondin. Troilo received a straight red after the incident capped Parma's 1-0 upset.

The 22-year-old Argentine headed the winner eight minutes earlier from Enrico Del Prato's corner. VAR cleared an offside flag, sparking wild scenes among the away support. Troilo sprinted toward the fourth official, raising arms high in triumph before contact occurred amid the chaos.

Parma head coach Cristian Chivu called the ban harsh but accepted the ruling. Troilo featured in 20 Serie A matches this season, anchoring a back three alongside Botond Balogh and Enrico Del Prato. His aerial strength proved decisive Sunday, rising above Milan's Theo Hernandez.

The towering center back joined Parma from Belgrano last August on a five-year deal worth over 7 million euros. At 6-foot-3, he logged two goals and 65 clearances across all competitions. Previous bookings include yellows against Juventus and Verona.

Parma sit 12th with 38 points from 27 games. They host Hellas Verona Saturday without Troilo, who misses Bologna the following week. Lautaro Valenti returns from calf strain to cover centrally.

Suspension rules mandate one match for improper referee conduct plus an extra for physical contact. Troilo serves immediately. Parma managed four clean sheets in his last six starts
