Denny Hamlin Fires Back at NASCAR Critic on Social Media: ‘Show Your Face’

Hamlin shot back at the X user who ripped the NASCAR on Prime broadcasts, calling the fan a “moron.”

The fan then had a comeback of his own and the No. 11 driver then responded again, asking the user to show his face.

NASCAR social media had a pretty interesting week with Corey Heim and Carson Hocevar trading barbs earlier this week and Hamlin having a fan interaction.

Hamlin Responds To Fan's 'Show Your Face' Post

Tuesday began with X user Earl, who says in his bio he is hunting the NASCAR on Prime broadcasts. The criticism came after San Diego-based Brendan McDowell, lead engineer for NASCAR on Prime, posted his love for the broadcast team.

This NASCAR fan is not one of them despite the accolades many have showered on Prime’s coverage the last five weeks.

They wrote, “I have said it over and over again, @SportsonPrime broadcast is THE EXACT SAME AS FOX Go to this guys profile and you will see he is the lead broadcast engineer for @NASCARONFOX, @SportsonPrime, and @NASCARonUSA Shows how corrupt Nascar media is when they sing praise for @SportsonPrime.”

Hamlin responded Wednesday morning, letting his feelings about the fan’s opinion be known.

“I know you get this a-lot but your an absolute moron,” wrote Hamlin.

The X user didn’t take Hamlin’s comments too kindly, sharing a photoshopped image of the Joe Gibbs Racing driver’s post to him.

The photo reads, “This message to Nascar fans is proudly supported by,” with a few of Hamlin’s sponsor logos underneath.

Again, Hamlin replied, this time in a funny way, asking the user to show his face.

"Show your face, Earl. “I want to see how close together your eyes are,” said Hamlin.

For some people, Hamlin’s reference might have sailed right over their heads.

Richard Childress had a funny insult for the driver of the No. 77 over the radio after Carson Hocevar caused a big wreck earlier this month at Michigan."If the eyes are that close together it means they have a small brain," Childress said.

If you think Michael Jordan wouldn't approve of how Hamlin gets into social media spats with fans the latter set the record straight.

One user questioned if Hamlin should be engaging with detractors on social media after the back and forth with the fan. “Denny, are you a 10-year-old? You’re one of the best NASCAR drivers and you’re arguing on twittter. You’re dating MJ. ' can you see him doing this' they wrote.

The 64-time Cup Series winner said it’s clear Jordan doesn’t shy away from the banter. In fact, the basketball legend likes that.

Co-owners Hamlin and Jordan are also members of 23XI Racing, which made its full-time Cup Series debut in 2021. Tyler Reddick has five wins for the team in 2026, while the team’s upstart driver, Corey Heim, has one win.
