Nat Sciver-Brunt led the hosts with 75 and helped England recover from an early wobble to post 169 for 5. England then backed up the total with a disciplined bowling effort that held South Africa to 129 for 8.

The final will bring together two teams that have been dominant throughout the tournament. England and Australia have both won all six of their matches so far, setting up a meeting that has the feel of a true decider between the top sides in the competition.

For England, the match also marks a return to the final for the first time in eight years. Australia, meanwhile, come in as the six-time T20 world champions and remain the team to beat at this level.

Lord’s will host the showpiece on Sunday with first ball set for 3.30pm local time. England will be chasing a first women’s T20 title since the competition’s inaugural edition on home soil, while Australia are aiming to extend their grip on the trophy
