England blow India away with pace to take 2-0 T20 series lead

England celebrate after India’s chase collapsed in the third T20 at Trent Bridge.

England demolished India by 125 runs in the third T20 at Trent Bridge to move 2-0 ahead in the five-match series. Phil Salt led the way with 70 off 44 balls as England posted 201-7 after being put in to bat.

India never found a foothold in the chase. Josh Tongue took 4-28 and Jofra Archer added 3-29 as England’s quicks tore through the top order and left the visitors reeling. India were bowled out for 76 in 11.4 overs, their heaviest defeat in T20 internationals by runs.

The opening bursts from Tongue and Archer set the tone early, and India’s innings kept sliding once the top order was exposed. Adil Rashid joined in with 2-14 to finish the job and underline how complete England’s performance had been.

Salt’s half-century gave England the platform, while Sam Curran’s unbeaten 41 off 24 balls helped push the total beyond 200. Jos Buttler added 36 off 21 in another strong show from the home side’s batting unit.

The result gives England an unassailable edge in the series with two matches left. The teams now move on to Bristol for the fourth T20, where India will be trying to respond after a bruising night in Nottingham
