NASCAR: Ty Dillon’s future at Kaulig Racing in doubt

This leaves the driver and team with plenty of questions about what their futures hold in the series.

Dillon is in his second full-time season behind the wheel of the No. 10 Chevrolet. Last year the 34 year old finished 33rd in points but made a big splash by making it to the final round of the In-Season Challenge finishing second despite being the lowest seed.

Again it's been a tough year for Dillon to find results in 2026. Dillon sits 32nd in the points standings with an average finish of 25.4 after 19 races.

Kaulig Racing CEO hasn’t discussed Dillon's future beyond 2026

An X user who follows Kaulig Racing “Rammin is Racing” recapped a Thursday morning interview on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio with Kaulig Racing's CEO.

According to that account, Rice has not spoken to Kaulig about Dillon’s future, but instead they are focused on improving the results of the No. 10 team for the rest of the 2026 campaign.

“Kaulig Racing CEO (Chris Rice) was on Sirius XM this morning and was asked about Ty Dillon’s future for 2027. “We haven’t talked about ’27 at all,” he said. They just talked about how they can improve this year,” they wrote.

“Rammin is Racing” reported that the future of the No. 10 car is planned for a “announcement date” of Aug. 1.

“Rammin is Racing” also reported that a source close to the situation indicated that Kaulig Racing will most likely switch to Dodge in 2027.

It’s a safe bet that Dillon will not be back with the team next year with the rumblings of Dodge coming back and Kaulig Racing fielding the reintroduced manufacturer in 2027.

“They are finalizing details and production and announcements and that if the team goes to Dodge Ty is no longer a candidate for that ride and the team will move on to someone else as Dodge comes in,” they wrote.

Kaulig Racing is running Dodge RAMs in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. It’s the first time since 2012 that a RAM has been on track in NASCAR. With the links in the Truck Series, it makes sense for Kaulig to run Dodges in the Cup Series next year.

Reviewing Ty Dillon’s NASCAR career

It wouldn’t be the first time Ty Dillon switched teams in the NASCAR Cup Series if he's done with Kaulig Racing after this year.

Dillon in his 297th career Cup Series start has never won a race in the series. He got his full time start in the Cup Series in 2017 with Germain Racing. He competed four seasons with the No. 13 Chevrolet before moving to Gaunt Brothers Racing in 2021.

Dillon spent 2022 racing full time for Petty GMS Motorsports after a year with Gaunt Brothers. He then joined Spire Motorsports in 2023 in the No. 77.

Dillon ran part time for three different teams in 2024 before moving to Kaulig Racing full time for 2025.

Dillon has one O'Reilly Auto Parts Series win and three Craftsman Truck Series wins but he has never won at NASCAR's premier level.
