Jermaine John had one of the biggest individual performances of the Bequia Basketball Tournament dropping 53 points in a stunning exhibition of offensive basketball.
The Bequia star was in total control of the game from the early minutes always probing and finding opportunities to score and keeping defenders under pressure.
His goalscoring spree became the main talking point as the competition proceeded to deliver entertaining action.
John’s new performance adds to an already excellent Bequia basketball record.
He’s been one of the island’s best players continuously and was the overall MVP of the 2025 tournament after helping East Blazers make a good run.
His scoring skill is nothing new. John has put up some great numbers in past Bequia contests, including a 54-point performance in the 2018 Second Division championship series.
Those performances have established him as one of the tournament’s most dangerous offensive players.
The 2026 tournament also coincides with a critical time for Bequia basketball.
The local association has been working to strengthen the sport at grassroots level and recently brought back basketball clinics for the young players.
John has been part of those development efforts providing the younger athletes a chance to learn from an experienced local performer.
He also garnered more attention this year as he was selected to represent St Vincent and the Grenadines at the FIBA AmeriCup 2029 Caribbean Pre-Qualifier in Guyana.
That occasion demonstrated how his performances on Bequia had helped him reach the national scene.
The 53-point explosion is just another chapter in the growing John basketball saga.
The figures are eye-catching but it’s his consistency and leadership that have made him such a key figure for the local game.
With more tournament action still to come, John will be one of the players opponents will need to watch closely.
His spectacular scoring display has boosted expectations and injected even more interest to Bequia’s basketball competition.
