Jaeden Mustaf Looks Ready For Bigger IU Role After Promising Summer Workouts

Indiana basketball has become an interesting player for Jaeden Mustaf after a productive summer preparing for the 2026-27 season.

The 6 foot 6 junior arrived at Indiana following two seasons at Georgia Tech where he averaged 10.4 points 4.3 rebound and 2.4 assists as a sophomore.

He also connected on 38.9 percent of his 3-point attempts and Mustaf's greatest asset appears to be his adaptability.

Indiana coaches believe he can guard many spot and his size and quickness means he can get to the rim well.

The Hoosiers also have encouraged him to be more confident from the outside.

That combo might be a valuable piece for incoming coach Darian DeVries.

Indiana has a squad that has been revamped quite a bit, so creating chemistry has been one of the primary focuses throughout the summer.

Mustaf has already made a big impression on his new squad mates.

“He’s athletic, he’s a Swiss Army knife,” said Darren Harris, referring to Burton, a junior guard.

His defensive approach may be a real bonus." “I think Mustaf takes defense personally,” said coach Mike Brey. “He feels he can guard from point guard to power forward.

That versatility offers Indiana additional options in creating alternative lineups.

Offensively, Mustaf can make plays by getting downhill and utilizing his muscular frame. His propensity to draw fouls was evident at Georgia Tech, too, as he rated among the ACC’s best players in free-throw rate.

Mustaf’s summer work in Indiana helped him learn his new role and create chemistry with teammates. With the regular season approaching, there is growing anticipation for what he can do.

Should his summer translate, Mustaf could emerge as one of the Hoosiers’ most valuable two-way players.
