Arman Tsarukyan is not certain that the UFC will make the long awaited match between Ilia Topuria and Paddy Pimblett.
The contest has long been a source of intrigue because of the friction between both lightweight stars.
Their rivalry became more apparent when Pimblett entered the cage for a faceoff with Topuria after Topuria defeated Charles Oliveira.
But the situation has altered a lot Topuria recently suffered the first loss of his pro career against Justin Gaethje and Pimblett returned to winning form with a victory over Benoit Saint Denis.
Those circumstances Tsarukyan says could make the UFC more cautious about booking the two popular fighters against one another.
He believes the promotion would rather protect its marketability than risk a fighter losing a valuable opportunity.
The Armenian challenger has already attacked the UFC for the way they’ve handled Pimblett’s career.
"The promotion sees the Englishman as a potential champion and has given him good opportunities," he says.
Tsarukyan also wondered if Pimblett was the ideal opponent for Topuria at this point.
Earlier this year he said it would be a better choice to have Michael Chandler return to the octagon against Topuria especially after his loss to Gaethje.
Topuria and Pimblett are two of the most renowned names in the UFC lightweight category despite the doubts.
The confrontation would be a big attraction in their history, with their different styles and past encounter.
But for now Tsarukyan believes the UFC might go a different way with both combatants before eventually considering their long-anticipated confrontation.
