Natalia Silva and Wang Cong Headline UFC 332 Flyweight Title Fight

UFC 332 is heading to Salt Lake City on October 3 with the vacant women’s flyweight title on the line between Natalia Silva and Wang Cong.

The main event has drawn criticism from some fans and analyst who have questioned if the contest is worthy of headlining a numbered UFC card.

Former UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub said it could’ve been the worst main event in UFC history.

Other publications have also called out the card’s lack of star power compared to various past numbered events.

But the title fight itself is between two undefeated UFC contenders with solid recent records.

Silva enters the battle on an eight-bout winning run in the UFC and a 14-fight overall winning streak. Her latest wins have been over former champions Jessica Andrade, Alexa Grasso and Rose Namajunas.

Wang has also developed momentum. The Chinese fighter has won four straight bouts and has a professional record of 10-1. Her last wins were against Tracy Cortez and Ariane da Silva.

Valentina Shevchenko vacated the belt due to an injury and the title became open. Thus, Silva and Wang have a possibility to be first-time UFC champions.

Also on UFC 332 are Deiveson Figueiredo vs. Payton Talbott, King Green vs. Esteban Ribovics, Roberto Soldic vs. Khaos Williams and Ateba Gautier vs. Roman Kopylov.

But the event is also notable being the first numbered UFC major card to telecast on CBS, despite the controversy surrounding the lineup.

Silva and Wang will get a chance to respond to the criticism inside the Octagon when the vacant title is decided.
