England Fast Bowler Carse Charged Over Derby Nightclub Incident

Brydon Carse faces an independent Cricket Discipline Panel after being charged over the Derby incident.

England fast bowler Brydon Carse has been charged by the Cricket Regulator with breaching the England and Wales Cricket Board's professional conduct regulations after an incident outside a Derby nightclub in August. The charge relates to Regulation 3.2, which covers conduct that may bring the ECB, cricket or a cricketer into disrepute.

The matter will now be referred to the independent Cricket Discipline Panel for adjudication. The Cricket Regulator said it would not comment further while the process remains ongoing.

Carse was removed from England's squad for the second Test against Pakistan after videos circulated on social media appearing to show the 31-year-old in handcuffs while speaking with police officers outside the venue. He was briefly arrested and subsequently de-arrested, with no criminal charges brought.

The ECB referred the incident to the Cricket Regulator after the initial investigation began. The regulator has now completed the next stage by charging Carse under the professional conduct rules.

The ECB confirmed it was aware of the decision to charge the fast bowler. The governing body did not provide further details, with the disciplinary process now moving to the independent panel.

Carse's case will be heard by the Cricket Discipline Panel in the coming weeks. The panel will determine any sanction after considering the charge and the evidence connected to the Derby incident.

The charge follows the ECB's earlier decision to remove Carse from the squad while the investigation was under way. The fast bowler was not available for the second Test against Pakistan after the incident became public.

The Cricket Regulator's action formalises the disciplinary case against Carse. The next stage will be the independent hearing, where the outcome and any penalty will be decided. Carse and the ECB will await the panel's decision once the adjudication process is completed.

Carse remains subject to the ECB's professional conduct process. The charge concerns conduct standards rather than a criminal case, after police did not bring charges following the original arrest in Derby
