Bilal Fawaz and Eithan James Set For British And Commonwealth Title Fight

Bilal Fawaz defends his British and Commonwealth super welterweight crowns against Eithan James on Saturday at Birmingham’s Utilita Arena.

The title battle is one of the undercard fights for Ben Whittaker v Conor Wallace and represents a key opportunity for both British competitors.

Fawaz joins the competition with a 12-1-1 professional record and four knockout victories.

The 38 year old champion has won his last eight bouts and will defend his belts for the second time.

James presents another difficulty but the 26 year old challenger has a record of 17-2 and has yet to score a professional knockout.

He has won four of his previous five fights and has moved to the super welterweight class during 2026.

A critical factor for Fawaz will be managing distance and tempo and his experience, bulk and long jab can help him control the action and not allow James to create any real pressure.

James, however, can look to make the fight faster paced and busy. His youth and work rate may be factors if he forces the champion to run at a strong pace for the championship distance.

The British Boxing Board of Control has sanctioned the fight as a voluntary defence and the bout is planned to last the full 12 round.

Both fighters have something to fight for.” Fawaz is hoping to hold onto the belts and keep his good run going while James is looking to get a major domestic championship on his name and build momentum in his career.

The fight takes place on Saturday October 3 at Utilita Arena Birmingham. It's likely to take place before the main event between Whittaker and Wallace.

With youth on his side, the Fawaz-James bout might be one of the card’s more competitive championship fights.
