Vardy says Age is just a number as he starts his life in Italy

Jamie Vardy, a former striker for Leicester, stated that "age is just a number" as he begins a new chapter in his career with Cremonese, an Italian team.

Considered one of Leicester's best players, the 38-year-old left the team at the end of the last campaign, ending a 13-year tenure during which he amassed 200 goals in 500 games.

In their 2015–16 season, when they won the Premier League, he scored 24 of those goals.

Vardy may make his debut for the northern Italian team on Monday against Verona after signing a free transfer to Cremonese, a freshly promoted Serie A team, earlier this month.

"You must be one of the doubters," he said when asked if he and other veterans like Luka Modric and Kevin de Bruyne, who also came to Serie A this summer, are still driven to play at the highest level. I'm going to have to prove you wrong.

"Age is only a number to me. I'll keep going as long as my legs are performing exactly like they used to and still feel as good as they did.

"As there are currently no indications that they will slow down, I will continue to give this club my all.

"I will learn Italian, but [for now] it is not a problem: football has its own language, with the ball," he stated.

Cremonese has had a fantastic start to the season, defeating Sassuolo 3-2 after surprising AC Milan 2-1 in the first game.

"The main task is making sure we stay in the league, and that's how it was when I was at Leicester," Vardy stated.

"The most important thing was always that we needed to stay in the league, not that we were going to go for this. So all you do is go out, play each game individually, give it your all, and let things happen as they will."
