ICC picks an all-female panel for the 2025 Women's World Cup

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced that the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup would have an all-female Emirates ICC Panel of Match Officials for the first time in history.

This is the first time in the history of the Women's World Cup that all-female officiating panels have been used. The 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and the last two ICC Women's T20 World Cups had all-female officiating panels.

Claire Polosak, Jacqueline Williams, and Sue Redfern are three of the 14 umpires on the panel. This is their third Women's World Cup.

Lauren Agenbag and Kim Cotton will be in their second World Cup. They were in charge of Australia's record seventh title win in New Zealand in 2022.

The 13th Women's World Cup will take place in India and Sri Lanka from September 30. The panel of four referees, Trudy Anderson, Shandré Fritz, GS Lakshmi, and Michell Pereira, brings a lot of experience to the tournament.

Jay Shah, the ICC Chairman, called the news a historic occasion for women's cricket.

"This is a turning point in the history of women's cricket, and we hope it will lead to many more groundbreaking stories in all areas of the sport." He stated, "Having an all-women panel of match officials is not only a huge step forward, but it also shows how committed the ICC is to promoting gender equality in cricket."

"This change is more than just a sign. It's about making things more visible, giving people chances, and making role models who can inspire future generations. We want to inspire people and show that leadership and making a difference in cricket are not limited to one gender by showing off great officiating on the world stage.

"We are happy to mark a new chapter in the expansion of women's sports. We think that our initiative will have an impact that goes beyond this tournament, encouraging more women throughout the world to become officials and changing what is possible in the game.

It is important to note that the Women's World Cup starts on September 30 with India playing Sri Lanka at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.
