Liga Portugal calls Cristiano Ronaldo the "Best of All Time"

The Portuguese Football League gave Cristiano Ronaldo the "Best of All Time" title on Wednesday.

The captain of Portugal, who has scored the most goals in men's international football (141 goals in 223 games), has won another individual award in his long career.

Liga Portugal said, "He was an idol to millions, defined an era, and will leave a lasting mark on world football." "CR7 won the "Best of All Time" award, which is a suitable honor for the great things he is still doing in his career.

"Recognized for his work ethic, competitiveness, and ability to make quick decisions in important situations, Cristiano Ronaldo's impact goes far beyond numbers."

"Between his personal records, team titles, and media influence, he left behind a legacy that makes him... The Best Ever."

Ronaldo, who is 40 and has won the Ballon d'Or five times, couldn't make it to the celebration in Porto, but he sent a video thanking everyone.

The Al Nassr forward added, "Thank you to the League for this award for best player of all time." "It's a huge honor for me to win something for my country, as you can imagine." I want to thank all of my teammates, coaches, and everyone else who helped me get better and earn this great award.

Ronaldo became the joint-top goalscorer in World Cup qualification history when Portugal beat Hungary 3-2 earlier this week.

The ex-Real Madrid and Manchester United player scored his 39th goal in World Cup qualifying from the penalty spot, tying him with Carlos Ruiz of Guatemala for the most goals.

Viktor Gyökeres was awarded Player of the Year in the Portuguese League for the second year in a row. After two excellent years at Sporting CP, the Swedish attacker joined Arsenal this summer.

Gyökeres scored 54 goals for Sporting in all competitions last season, the most by any player at a top-flight team. Sporting needed his 39 league goals last season to keep their crown.

Gyökeres said in a video, "I'm really honored to get this amazing award for best player of the season for the Liga Portugal League in 2024-25."

"I want to thank all the players, staff, and fans at Sporting who made this possible by supporting us all season long." Winning both the league and the cup made it an unforgettable season for us.
