Matheus Cunha's Week 3 ended early since he got hurt early in Saturday's Premier League game against Burnley at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils were in charge, leading 1-0, and Cunha was a big part of it. Then, around the half-hour mark, he seemed to hurt his muscle.
Cunha stopped running and fell to the ground. Trainers came right away, and it looked like his day was over in the first half.
In 31 minutes of play, the 26-year-old Brazilian was given credit for a created chance and a shot on goal.
It was Joshua Zirzkee, not Benjamin Sesko, who took Cunha's place on the field.
Ruben Amorim talks about Matheus Cunha's injury update
Matheus Cunha has been quite tough during his time in the Premier League. He has only missed a few games because of an injury (he missed four games because of a red card).
Ruben Amorim claims that Cunha wants to play in the derby, but he will be on the bench with Mason Mount and Diogo Dalot.
"I don't know how long it will take, but they are out for this game." We need these guys to be able to compete. We have a lot of good players who want to play, so we will be competitive on Sunday. But they're gone."
"I don't want to tell [how long they are out]. Cunha would declare that he can play this game if you chat to him outside. "They're really pushing hard."
Late in the 2023–24 season, Cunha hurt his hamstring and missed a month and a half for Wolves. He had a knee injury that kept him out of action for a similar amount of time with Atletico Madrid at the start of the 2022–23 season.
Amorim told reporters after the game that he didn't have any news on Cunha or Mason Mount, who exited the game at halftime. He did say that he was "so, so concerned" about losing either player for any amount of time.
