Girls' tennis roundup: No. 4 Litchfield beats NLS

New London, September 11— On Thursday night, the Litchfield girls' tennis team won their fourth match of the week.

Litchfield, which is rated fourth in Class A, beat New London-Spicer 7-0. The Dragons have also beaten Holy Family Catholic, Osakis, and Westonka since Monday. Overall, Litchfield is 14-4.

The Dragons were led by Isla Dille, who was placed fourth among Class A individuals. The youngster lost one match in her 6-1, 6-0 win over Erin Pederson at No. 1 singles.

Two matches got to the third set.

At No. 1 doubles, Elly Woelfel and Marcella Bruning beat Emma Friedel and Brooke Glauvitz 7-6, 0-6, and 6-2. The Dragons also won at No. 2 doubles. Brynn Nagel and Elise Carlson beat Heidi Taunton and Averie Turner 6-4, 4-6, 7-5.

At 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Litchfield will play at Annandale. NLS plays Hutchinson on Monday at 4 p.m.

The final score at Madison didn't show how hard MACCRAY/Renville County West played Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd.

LQPV/DB won three of its six matches by winning three sets. The match that was closest was No. 3 doubles, where Kenna McTighe and Riley Clark beat MACCRAY/RCW's Maggie Burnett and Cecelia Morris 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (2).

At 4:30 p.m. on Monday, LQPV/DB plays Milbank, South Dakota, at Madison. On Friday at 4 p.m., MACCRAY/RCW will face Yellow Medicine East at Granite Falls.

Minnewaska won all seven matches in straight sets, with a total score of 84-8, at Melrose.

In Class A, the Lakers are the second-best team in the state.

Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd plays Minnewaska at Glenwood on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

Yellow Medicine East won all of the singles matches and the No. 2 doubles match in Granite Falls, which had three three-set matches.

At No. 4, Abigail Jimenez of the Sting beat Madelyn Peterson 6-0, 4-6, 6-1 in singles. Keely Klein and Abi Anderson-Nyhus of the Mainstreeters beat Breea Johnson and Brooklynn Howe 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 in No. 1 doubles. Sauk Centre also won the No. 3 pairs match. Gayle Weber and Alexis Clark beat Reagan Streich and Annelise Jahn by a score of 6-7 (5-7), 6-0, 6-3.

YME will play MACCRAY/Renville County West in Granite Falls on Friday at 4 p.m.
