With her judgment on Angel Reese's remarks about Sky colleagues, Sophie Cunningham doesn't mince words

After expressing her dissatisfaction with the Chicago Sky, Sophie Cunningham told Angel Reese that she "cannot say" what she did.

Before making a startling announcement earlier this month, Reese seemed more and more irritated in recent weeks, and the team had one of the worst records in the WNBA.

"I'm not settling for the same - we did this year," she recently told reporters. We must acquire talented players. We must acquire excellent players. For me, that cannot be negotiated. After being suspended for the comments, Reese has since discovered exactly what Chicago Sky fans think of her.

"Obviously, I might have to move in a different direction and do what's best for me if things don't pan out," Reese went on. "I'd like to be here for my career." However, I intend to remain receptive to what I have here and make the most of it while I'm here."

Since then, Reese has attempted to take back her remarks and apologized, but she has not fully accepted responsibility, arguing that her remarks were "taken out of context." In response to questions about Reese's public threats to leave the business, Cunningham denounced her actions and said that they were self-serving.

"It's not great," she said on her podcast. You simply cannot say certain things.

"I'm a highly team-oriented individual. I always prioritize the team over my emotions, and I believe that this ought to be the norm. You must keep your locker room safe.

Unless she attempts to push her way out of the team, Reese has two more years left on her rookie contract with the Sky, and she is just in her second season.

"I probably am frustrated [with] myself right now," she said in her apology. The language is, in my opinion, taken out of context. Since my teammates had been through this with me the entire year, I truly didn't want to disparage them.

"I've busted my a--, and they've busted theirs. They have been there for me in the locker room when no one else could see me, and through thick and thin.

As a result, I would like to express my sincere regret to my teammates for the piece and the way it was interpreted. Additionally, I simply need to improve my English skills.

"Because I am aware that it is the messenger and not the message. Furthermore, there are several ways to interpret what I say. I simply need to improve and learn from this."

The Sky will miss the WNBA playoffs for the second year in a row, and after her remarks, Reese may need to prove to her team's fans and even her teammates that she is dedicated to her organization.
