Erling Haaland Smashes Champions League Record

Erling Haaland has once again rewritten football history, breaking yet another Champions League goal-scoring record.

On Thursday night, Manchester City faced a tough challenge against Napoli’s ten men in the UEFA Champions League, but their star striker delivered when it mattered most. Haaland scored from a brilliant Phil Foden cross, sealing another crucial victory for City.

With that strike, the Norwegian forward became the fastest player to reach 50 Champions League goals, achieving the milestone in just 49 appearances. The previous record, set by former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy, stood at 62 games. Haaland shattered it with ease.

“He just breaks every record in front of him—what he’s doing is unbelievable,” said teammate Phil Foden.

Haaland celebrated by holding up five fingers on one hand and forming a zero with the other, proudly signaling his half-century tally.

Manager Pep Guardiola praised his talisman, saying:

“Congratulations to him. The numbers speak for themselves. To be alongside names like [Ruud] van Nistelrooy, [Robert] Lewandowski, and especially Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, who dominated for 20 years, is incredible. Erling is truly a blessing for us.”

At only 25 years old, Haaland has already joined an elite list of Champions League legends, and his record-breaking journey looks far from over.
