Speaking to DAZN through FCInter1908, Marelli defended Livio Marinelli's choice to deny Sassuolo a penalty.
At San Siro, Inter Milan defeated the Serie A newcomers 2-1 to sneak into the win column.
To get back to winning ways, Cristian Chivu's team had to weather a late storm.
Indeed, after Federico Dimarco and Tarik Muharemovic's own goals put the Nerazzurri ahead 2-0, Walid Cheddira cut Inter's lead in half.
In addition, Sassuolo had vehemently objected to Marinelli's choice to signal "play on" following Nemanja Matic's fall inside the box.
Davide Frattesi challenged the Serbian veteran, who fell to the ground.
Marinelli let the play go on, but the clash lacked sufficient energy.
Following the match, Fabio Grosso yelled at the Serie A official.
Additionally, Matic argued that he should have been awarded the penalty and joined his manager in condemning the referee's decision.
Following Inter Milan's 2-1 victory over Sassuolo, Luca Marelli lashes out at Fabio Grosso and Nemanja Matic.

According to Marelli, "Matic and Grosso complain about a hold by Frattesi in the box that could have resulted in a penalty."
In comparison to the hold, Matic's fall is delayed; the Sassuolo player tries to restrain himself but fails to do so, allowing himself to fall.
"It was right not to impose a punishment. The hold happened.
The refereeing expert clarified, "But it wasn't strong or prolonged enough to warrant a spot-kick, as Matic continued the play and only marginally felt the hold."
In the second instance, referee Marinelli made a grave mistake. It was a simple choice at the end of the game.
"Dimarco acts unsportingly after he calls a foul on him.
