Monchi, the president of football operations of Aston Villa, is about to depart the team.
Following a winless start to the season, Villa is currently in 18th place in the Premier League, and the 56-year-old's resignation is imminent.
Monchi had previously worked with Villa manager Unai Emery at La Liga team Sevilla, where he served as sporting director until joining Villa in 2023.
After finishing fourth in the Premier League that season, the two led Villa to the Europa Conference League semifinals in 2024 and guaranteed a spot in the Champions League.
Last season, they advanced to the quarterfinals of the Champions League before losing to eventual winners Paris St-Germain.
This season, Villa has had a dismal start, scoring only once and losing all five of their league games.
Last week, Brentford eliminated them from the EFL Cup on penalties as well.
